A dialogue between a reporter and the trade and commerce Minister about the price hike of essential commodities
Reporter : Good morning, sir. I have come from “the Daily Star”. Would you
spare a few minutes?
Minister : Sure. What can I do for you?
Reporter : I want to discuss with you about the recent price hike. The price of essential
commodities is increasing by leaps and bounds. As a result, the suffering of
the people of low aware of the suffering of the people.
Minister : You are right. We are also aware of the suffering of the people.
Reporter : Would you please tell me the reason of price hike?
Minister : There are many reasons. But the most important is the dishonesty of some
unscrupulous businessmen. Shortage of food supply due to low production
also accelerates the price hike.
Reporter : Have you any necessary measures?
Minister : Yes. We are controlling it very strictly. Some dishonest businessmen have
already been arrested and brought under judgment. Government has set fair
price shops in different places of the country. Moreover, we are going to
import a huge quantity of food grains.
Reporter : Do you think you‘ll be able to reduce the price hike?
Minister : I believe within fifteen days everything will be normal.
Reporter : Thank you very much.
Minister : Welcome.

Monir : By reading newspaper, we can get the news of various items in the world.
Sajib : But doesn’t the TV nerve this purpose?
Monir : Television gives us news but that is not as much as newspaper.
Sajib : Can we have the educational page in the newspaper?
Monir : Obviously Almost every national dailies publish this item.
Sajib : Do the teachers, traders, shop-keepers, farmers, doctors etc all kinds of people get benefit from
newspaper?
Monir : Yes, they get and are getting always.
Sajib : Can we learn any moral lesson and build up our character by newspapers?
Monir : We can learn many religious and moral stories in the from the news paper. There help us build
our character.
Sajib : But isn’t it true that newspaper sometimes brings false news and creates anarchy?
Monir : You are right but that is too little in compare to its positive side.
Sajib : So, do you think that I also should form the habit of reading newspaper?
Monir : Not only you but also all types of people should form this habit.
Sajib : Thanks a lot, Monir is for your valuable information.
Monir : You are most welcome.

Sujon : Hi Abir, why have you been late in the class today?
Abir : Oh, a disgusting traffic jam compelled me to be late.
Sujon : Yes, this time killer problem causes much sufferings for the city
dwellers.
Abir : The more the time passes, the more the problem becomes acute.
Sujon : Hundreds of vehicles enter the city anew everyday.
Abir : The drivers, the pedestrians are not willing to follow the traffic
rules.
Sujon : Not only that, our traffic policemen are not active and skilled
enough to obey their duties.
Abir : Can we get rid of this problem?
Sujon : It is not impossible but very tough.
Abir : How is that?
Sujon : The government should take stern action against the traffic rule violators.
Abir : Then?
Sujon : New roads should be made.
Abir : I think every city dweller must be conscious of this problem.
Sujon : Absolutely right. If the people are careful, then it is easy for
government to solve any problem.
Abir : sujon. I have to go home as early as possible.
Sujon : Ok. See you next.

Arup : Yes. I always get up minimum one hour before the sunrise and go

an early riser has enough time to work. He can earn more and become
wealthy.
Asif : Is early rising good for health?
Arup : An early riser has many advantages. He can start his daily work earlier.

Arup : Of course. The man, who rises early in the morning, can take some
exercise and walk in the morning fresh air in the open field. The
morning air refreshes both body and mind.
Asif : I was completely in the dark. I will start rising in the morning.
Arup : If you cultivate the habit of rising early, you will realize its importance.
Asif : Thank you.
Arup : You are most welcome.

Monir : How are you Sakib?
Sakib : I’m fine. What are you reading, Monir?
Monir : It’ s an English language learning book.
Sakib : why do you read it? You can read a Bengali novel instead of it.
Monir : You don’t know the importance of learning English. So You
can tell me so.
Sakib : Sorry. Would you please explain it to me?
Monir : Well, English is an international language. In every sphere of
life we need English. To be a doctor, an engineer, a professor,
a banker you must learn English.
Sakib : But learning English seems very difficult to me.
Monir : You’re right. I think the traditional method of learning English
is not quite good in our country.
Sakib : Then how are you learning English?
Monir : I am learning English at an English learning centre near our
school by some natives and foreign experts.
Sakib : Would you please help me to have same opportunity?
Monir : Of course. I’ll take you there and do everything in this regard.
Sakib : Thank you Monir. I’ll se you tomorrow.

Mother :I heard, a new teacher was appointed in your school for a few days ago.
Daughter :Yes,Mum.He is our new English teacher.
Mother :What are his name and qualification?
Daughter :His name is Mr Rahman.He is the holder of B.A.(Hons) in English literature and B.Ed.He is an
experienced teacher.
Mother :What sort of man is he?
Daughter :He is quite a good man.
Mother :Do you like him?
Daughter :Surely! I like him quite a lot. As a new one he is very free and cordial. He wants to mix with the
general students. His art of speaking is very attractive.
